July 02 A sad/happy weekend We lost a family member this weekend... Emma's fish Sally. She was an old fish, though, just about three years old. For a beta, that's old. She was away when it happened, and was sad to hear about it of course. Today, though, we went to PetSmart and added to our family. She finally, after an hour of careful consideration, chose two goldfish. One is bright orange, and the other is a pale color. Their names are Luke and Leia. Go figure. Our aquarium is designed to look like a gumball machine, but this time we replaced the gumball-colored marbles with white aquarium gravel and added a piece for them to swim through/around and such. She is working on a hamster, but we will have to see about that. I am very wary of having a hamster with two cats and a large dog in the house. One day alone and who knows what will happen! For the cats and dog - instant snack! One day maybe... we did find a cute, friendly one last week. And they have little cars for them to "drive"!! How cute!! What is the deal here??? Okay I have to vent a little, since I can't really do it at the store. First, WHAT is the deal with FLIP FLOPS?? They are hideous shoes to start with, but they are specifically and strictly forbidden in the dress code. I mean, we are a respectable store! Why would people think they can wear them to work?? I have told them over and over again - leave the things at home!Second, if you say that working on Sundays is not a problem, and say that working this Sunday is fine, WHY would you think it would be okay to NOT SHOW UP at work?? And say when you are called that "I put on my application I couldn't work on Sundays" HELLO!! I specifically asked during the interview if it would be a problem! Third, why come to an interview, be all excited about the job, and when you are hired get your schedule and be very into starting, and NOT SHOW UP??? And not call, not return calls, or anything??? Come on!! It makes me want to scream sometimes!! |
