    Cocnert time!

Tuesday night we took Emma to her first concert - Cheetah Girls. The tickets were a Christmas present to her. She was so excited! The concert was at 7 (a school night - ugh) and at 6:20 we turned onto the road to the arena (usually a 5 minute drive). An HOUR later we were parking! And we had to walk around a mile from the car to the arena. I could not believe how many people were there!! Everlife was the opening act, and we missed some of their show but they were pretty good. Definitely geared toward younger audiences though. After Everlife went off the stage, Emma and I went down to look at souvenirs. The line for tshirts and things was so long, she got a glowstick from a walking vendor and I took her back to her seat so she wouldn't miss anything. I went back down and got in line. It has been a long time since I have looked at shirts and such at a concert. Tshirts were $35, cds were $35 (which I bought at the mall for $15!), posters were $10. and program books were $20!! I couldn't believe it. I admit we overdid it for her, though, but it was a special night. The Cheetah Girls themselves were pretty good, too, kept the kids entertained and did a lot of show-y things. Some dance numbers were exact replicas of the movie, and they said that they picked up Adrianne in Barcelona (not according to her bio in the program!) and there were these five dancer guys who seemed so out of place! It was a good show for kids, though, and she had a good time, which is all that matters.

On the downside, though, I've had their songs in my head ever since!

    Girl Scouts

Emma finally has a troop!  Last week someone from the Girl Scout office called with the name of a troop leader whose troop meets Wednesday evenings (my day off).  I called the leader, and she called me back this afternoon.  Her troop actually does not meet Wednesdays any more, but Mondays.  But before I could get disappointed, she told me about another troop that she is a Mentor leader for (I think that's what she called it) that meets Tuesday evenings after I get off from work.  This Tuesday we will be at the Cheetah Girls concert so next week will be Emma's first meeting.  She is so excited!!!   When I told her she had a troop now, she said "Well what are we waiting for?  Lets get in the car and go!"
So my Brownie finally belongs to a troop.

    What's news in our world

Okay, to catch up since last time I posted....
Work was CRAZY BUSY for the holiday season!  First off, right before Thanksgiving we had a robbery.  No one was hurt, we were just all shaken up, but it was surreal.  It took a minute for us to realize what actually happened!  Two guys came in, looked at different items, spent several minutes in the store, and looked at engagement rings.  Suddenly they grabbed one out of an associate's hand and ran off with two rings.  Scary.  But we were following policy, so we were covered.  Thankfully.

Then, in December on my next-to-last day off I was driving across town to meet my friend for lunch.  I see a policeman in my rear view mirror, and realize he's after me!!  I got my first speeding ticket!  And other people were passing me!!  And my insurance card expired the day before and my new one was at home!!  AND it was the same policeman who had come to my store when we were robbed!!  What luck, right?  So I spent my last day off driving across town again to find the police station to pay the ticket, and got lost!

Also, Thanksgiving morning we were awakened by my mother calling saying my grandmother was en route to the hospital.  She had pneumonia and had had a very slight heart attack.  She stayed in the hospital for nine days, then suddenly they took her off the oxygen, IV, and heart monitor and sent her home!  Needless to say a few days later she was back in the hospital with congestive heart failure.  When she was discharged she was not given all her medications.  Her doctor was FURIOUS! She stayed six days that time, and is doing much better now.  The fluid is gone, and she is doing great.  Home health care people come a few days a week, one for physical therapy, and one for breathing treatments, checking her out, and things like that.  Mom gives her breathing treatments also.

Just before Christmas Emma was sick also.  She was supposed to go home with one of her friends after school on the last day, then Saturday go to another friend's birthday party, then go spend a few days with her grandparents and great-grandmother.  Friday morning the school nurse called and said she had a fever and had to be picked up, so Chris left work early and got her and took her home.  She was sick until Wednesday.  Poor kid missed everything!  She did spend two nights with her Nana and Papa, though, and came home Christmas Eve.

On the good side, though - I got my Christmas Cards out this year!!!
